Big Sandy ADD - Serving Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Martin & Pike Counties
The Eastern Kentucky Business Park is a partnership of the Big Sandy District counties of Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Martin and Pike. Consisting of over 300 acres, the Park’s tenants include Chesapeake Energy and Consolidated Pipe & Supply. In addition, Martin County Economic Development Authority has a 50,000 sq. ft. building located in the Park that it is currently marketing to prospective tenants. Citizen representatives of each of the Big Sandy district counties serve on the Big Sandy Regional Industrial Development Authority (BSRIDA), which is responsible for the development, management and marketing of the Eastern Kentucky Business Park. Big Sandy ADD staff provide services to the Authority which include hosting monthly meetings, maintaining all records and providing financial and administrative services.
In addition to the building located at Eastern Kentucky Business Park, the Martin County Economic Development Authority markets available properties throughout Martin County to prospective businesses.
The Pike County IDEA board is active in its efforts to increase economic development opportunities in Pike County by expanding or relocating businesses to the area. The Mossy Bottom Industrial Park, developed with assistance from the Big Sandy Regional Industrial Development Authority utilizing multi-county coal severance funds, is located in Pike County and is home to Elliott Contracting, Leslie Equipment Company, Martin’s Peterbilt and Coca-Cola.
The Prestonsburg Industrial Corporation governs the Cliff Industrial Site located on Cliff Road in Prestonsburg. Positioned within ½ mile of US 23, this site has all utilities available including public water, sewer, and gas. The property is currently being marketed for sale or lease.
The City of Prestonsburg secured funding for the development of this 40-acre site located on the top of Maggie Mountain in the development known as Stone Crest. This site has all utilities available and is in close proximity to recreational fields, a horse arena and stables, Stone Crest Golf Course, as well as a housing subdivision. Mountain Comprehensive Care Center is a tenant of the park having treatment facilities located at the site.
Gateway Industrial Park is located near Jenkins, Kentucky in Letcher County and is a regional partnership between Floyd, Knott, Letcher, and Pike counties. The Park is developed and marketed under the Appalachian Industrial Authority composed of members that represent the participating counties
